At the November 20, 2014 Board meeting we decided to have a Founder's Day celebration in August to commemorate the first PWARC meeting. Jane volunteered to host the picnic at her home on Saturday, August 8, 2015.

In March Jane announced she was selling her home and moving to Arizona to be near her brother. We discussed having the Founder's Day at the park and then decided to have the celebration a month earlier, at the end of July, so Jane could attend too. Knowing the temperature would be quite warm, Lori asked another Founder, Bill if they would host the party at their home.

On Sunday July 19th Bill and Debbie graciously opened their home and hosted the Pueblo West Amateur Radio Club's Founder's Day Potluck and Farewell to Jane party.

Lori arrived at 11:00 to help with setting up, Sharon also arrived early but there wasn't much for them to do because Bill and Debbie were well prepared to handle it all.

Sharon went to pick up Jane at 11:45 a.m., and people started arriving soon after.

Attending were:
  • Bill KD0RPD and Debbie
  • Lori AH6OS
  • Sharon YL of silent key W0NHF
  • Jane KA0USA and YL of silent key WA0KAQ
  • Stan WB0JRG
  • Dan W0OJW and mom Nancy
  • Jim NE0DA and Rita
  • Bob KE0AHM and Theresa
  • Paul KB0JIT and Linda
  • Gary Maier AD0HC
  • Phyllis Dorris KC0WYK

  • Dan NG0T and Barbara

There was coffee, ice tea, lemonade and because the Fortunes had a neighborhood party the day before they also offered beer, wine and bottled water.

We sat in the sun room until all the chairs were full and conversation was in full gear. Thinking most everyone was there, we said it was time to eat. Debbie added there were tables in the dining room, the patio and the deck.

The food was fantastic, there was barbeque meat with buns, barbeque wings hot off the grill, shrimp with spicy cocktail sauce, Popeye's chicken, smoked sausage in mustard sauce, burritos wrapped in foil with a pot of hot green chili, fiesta pinwheels, German potato salad, pasta salad, macaroni salad, a fruit tray and banana bread.

For dessert Phyllis brought her lemon pudding salad as requested, Dan brought his delicious cookies, and there was a special chocolate cake with strawberry filling ordered just for the occasion.

People were sitting everywhere with lots of talk going on the patio and deck and in the dining room and a good time was had by all.

Roger W0ROG will be taking on some of Jane's duties in the Club, but as one person stated,

NO ONE WILL EVER REPLACE JANE!!
